Jarad Anthony Higgins1,2 was born on December 2, 1998 in Chicago and grew up in Calumet Park YER, a suburb of Chicago. He then moved to Homewood, and attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School (en)3. Higgins' parents divorced him when he was young and his father left his mother who raised him as a single mother next to an older brother3.

Higgins' mother was a conservative Christian and prevented Higgins from listening to rap music, although his cousins let him listen to artists like Gucci Mane, Birdman, and Lil Wayne4. He first learned the piano, followed by guitar and drums. Higgins began to consider rap seriously in his second year of high school5.
